Description

KX-826 (pyrilutamide) is an investigational topical androgen-receptor antagonist being developed primarily for androgenetic alopecia (AGA), commonly known as male- and female-pattern hair loss. Rather than reducing androgen production throughout the body, KX-826 is designed to act locally at androgen receptors in hair-follicle tissue, blocking androgen-mediated signaling that can contribute to follicle miniaturization and progressive hair thinning.

Key Effects:

Targets androgen signaling — competitively blocks androgen receptors in the scalp.

Supports hair density — clinical studies have demonstrated increases in non-vellus hair counts compared with placebo.

May help slow follicle miniaturization — by interfering with androgen signaling associated with AGA.

Designed for topical use — intended to deliver activity directly to the scalp rather than functioning as a systemic anti-androgen.

Potential for both men and women — KX-826 has been studied in male and female patients with androgenetic alopecia.

Clinical Research

Recent Phase III results announced by Kintor in March 2026 showed statistically significant improvements in target-area non-vellus hair counts for both 0.5% and 1.0% KX-826 compared with placebo over 24 weeks. The company reported +10.65 hairs/cm² over placebo with 1.0% and +9.78 hairs/cm² over placebo with 0.5%.
